I was reading up on Ron Paul and his issues.?

I looked at the website you linked to. If I were particularly interested in a candidate's position on any of those issues, I would want more information than a scorecard. There are many sensible reasons to vote for or against a law that have nothing to do with the purported short-name. Unfortunately, most voters don't like to do that much research, so campaigns rely heavily on claims that "X voted against Y", knowing few people will examine that claim any deeper (to perhaps discover that Y would have done nothing productive to solve a problem and would have made things worse).
